What we collect when you order

Your name, email address, shipping address, billing address, and phone number if you give us one. We also keep a record of what you ordered, what you paid, and any messages you send us about that order.

What we collect about your payment

We never see or store your full card number. Payment details go straight to our payment processor. What comes back to us is the last four digits, the card brand, and whether the payment succeeded, which is what we need to issue refunds and handle disputes.

What we collect when you browse

Your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you look at, how you found us, and how long you stay. This arrives through cookies and similar technologies. We use it to keep the site working, understand what people are looking for, and see whether our advertising reaches the right people.

Why we are allowed to use it

We use your order and contact details because we need them to fulfill the contract you enter into when you buy something. Analytics and advertising data rest on your consent, which you give through the cookie banner and can withdraw whenever you like. Transaction records are kept because tax and accounting law requires it.

Who we share it with

Shopify, which hosts our store and processes orders. Our payment processors, which handle the transaction. Our fulfillment partners and the carriers who deliver your parcel, who receive your name and shipping address and nothing else. Our email provider, if you signed up for messages from us. Analytics and advertising providers, including Google, for the measurement described above.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not hand it to anyone for their own marketing.

Data leaving the United States

Some of our fulfillment partners operate outside the United States. When we pass your name and delivery address to them so your order can ship, that information travels with it. We send only what delivery requires, and we require our partners to keep it confidential and use it for nothing else.

How long we keep it

Order and invoice records: 7 years, because tax law requires it.
Customer service emails: 2 years after the conversation ends.
Marketing contact details: until you unsubscribe.
Cookie and analytics data: up to 12 months.

Cookies

Our site uses cookies to keep your cart working, remember your preferences, measure traffic and support advertising. You accept or refuse the non-essential ones through the cookie banner, you can change your mind later through that same banner, and you can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time. Essential cookies cannot be switched off, because the site does not function without them.

Your choices

You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, delete it, or send it to you in a portable format. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails through the link at the bottom of every message or by emailing us. Write to support@colorfulatelier.com for any of these. We reply within 30 days, and asking never changes how we treat you.

If you live in California

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act you can ask what categories of personal information we have collected about you, where it came from, why we collected it, and who we disclosed it to. You can ask us to delete or correct it. You can opt out of sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising through the Your Privacy Choices link in our footer. We do not sell personal information, and we do not knowingly collect or sell the personal information of anyone under 16. Using these rights never affects the price you pay or the service you get.

Children

This store is not intended for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Keeping your data safe

The site runs over HTTPS on every page. Access to order data is limited to the people who need it to run the store and answer your questions. No system is completely secure, so if a breach ever affects your data we will tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

Automated decisions

We do not make decisions about you with legal effects using automated processing alone.

Changes to this policy

When something changes we update this page and the date at the top. Material changes are also announced on the site.
